• Did anything make you laugh today?
• What’s a small thing you’re looking forward to?
• Found a film, game or book worth recommending?
• If you had a free evening, how would you spend it?

Keep the conversation two-way

Listen to what they actually said before asking another question. A simple follow-up about their song or story usually feels more natural than jumping to a new topic.

If an opening falls flat, change the subject or share something about yourself. Silence is not a test you have to pass. You can also choose text if that feels easier.

Let curiosity have boundaries

You don’t need someone’s exact location, surname, workplace, or social account to have a good conversation. Don’t push for details they’ve chosen not to share.

Ask before taking a screenshot or recording. For Afterparty’s adult-only community, nudity, sexual acts and harassment are not allowed. Leave or report & block if someone crosses a boundary.

A comfortable goodbye counts too

“Nice talking with you — I’m going to head out” is enough. There is no obligation to keep a conversation going or move it to another app.

When you’re ready, check your camera preview and join the queue. Another person has to be available at the same time. One conversation is a beginning, not a promise of a match on demand.
