How video chat works
Afterparty runs in your browser. You don’t need to install an app or register an email address. Choose a nickname, confirm you’re 18 or older, and check your camera and microphone before joining the queue.
- Open the video page and start your preview. Your preview is a check before you join the queue.
- When you’re ready, join the queue. You connect when another eligible person is waiting.
- During a conversation, mute your microphone, turn your camera off, move on, or leave. You decide when you’re done.
Video and voice, or a text conversation
Video chat combines your camera and microphone in a one-to-one conversation. You can mute or turn off your camera during a call. If you would rather start without camera access, our separate text chat is another way to meet someone.
This is an early community. A working camera does not mean another person is available, and we don’t guarantee instant matching. If the queue is quiet, leave and try again later.
Make room for a good conversation
Say hello, ask one small question, and give the other person time to answer. A favorite song, a recent discovery, or something that made your day is enough to get started. You don’t need a polished profile.
Afterparty is for adults 18+. Nudity, sexual acts, harassment and recording someone without their consent are not allowed. Report & block ends the call; choose a reason and submit the report to block that person. Avoid sharing your address, documents, or payment details.
Before you turn your camera on
Use a browser with camera and microphone support and a connection you trust. Check what is visible behind you. If preview fails, check site permissions and whether another app is using the camera. Our camera help page explains the next steps.
A few things to know
Is this an app I have to download?
No. You can open Afterparty in your browser. Camera and microphone permission are needed for video and voice.
Will I connect immediately?
Only if another eligible person is available. Matching time depends on who is in the queue; it can be quiet while the community is small.
Can I choose a specific person or country?
The current experience uses random one-to-one matching. It does not promise a particular person, gender or country.
Can I use text instead?
Yes. Choose the separate text-chat option if you don’t want to start with your camera.
